Is it well with your soul?

Perhaps you have heard of a lawyer named Horatio Spafford who grieved the death of his only son, only to endure the subsequent terrible fire which destroyed the family business and ruined them financially. Seeking to ease their pain, Spafford decided to remove with his wife and four daughters to Europe. But sending them ahead by ship, he received a telegram, "Saved alone." The ocean vessel had sunk in the Atlantic taking all but his wife to its depths. It was on the cusp of these events that Spafford sat by the shore under the deafening breakers of sorrow and loss, to pen the lines of the now famous hymn, It is well with my soul.

Can you read his lines and say something of these words has been your experience?
It Is Well With My Soul

When peace like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou hast taught me to say,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,
Let this blest assurance control,
That Christ has regarded my helpless estate,
And hath shed His own blood for my soul.

    I think that through this we are compelled to deal with the fact that our Lord will be there for us, even at the depths of such tremendous sorrow and grief. If this is the case, then there is no excuse this life can offer us to not worship and praise Him.

    Isa 24:15 Wherefore glorify ye the LORD in the fires, even the name of the LORD God of Israel in the isles of the sea.
