Why, hello! My name is Michael. I'm a writer and professional photographer in my twenties. I grew up in Southern California and have lived in other countries and States, too. I read a lot and love to have meaningful conversations, both in person and print.
Since 2006, this site has been my primary outlet for sharing personal thoughts and interesting webscavations. The name of the site is inspired by the verse, "We conducted ourselves in the world in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom but by the grace of God, and more abundantly toward you." I want my writing to be sincere about my weakness and the strength God gives me to serve Him in love.
Much of the material on theopenlife.com is theological, generally from the Reformed perspective, though I was raised in the broad Evangelical tradition. I take great interest in culture and technology, and try to travel the world in my spare time.
NOTE: My beliefs continue to develop as I study. Posts dated earlier than 2009 may not represent my present views. Such are testaments to continued reformation in my understanding of scripture. If in doubt, my current Statement of Faith norms everything hosted here.
Questions and comments are most welcome.
